Apartment Development of the Year for Newhall Square

The winners of the Midlands Residential Property Awards 2020 were revealed by Insider. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, no awards ceremony took place this year, but projects, people and businesses in the Midlands’ residential sector were still honoured by the awards. Our Newhall Square Development in the heart of Birmingham city centre took the Apartment Development of the Year awards in recognition of what the judges said was:

“An exceptional project that undersold itself. Modern and with plenty of public space that used the canal on the site to its best advantage.”

Newhall Square is a project with history, both for Birmingham and Associated Architects. This new residential development is the second phase of a masterplan focused around the Whitmore-Arm, a former canal. The site includes elements of the Grade II listed Elkington Electroplating Works, which later became part of the Birmingham Science Museum. Newhall Square has created 220 apartments minutes walk away from Birmingham’s major transport links and commercial district. Inset balconies allow for views over the canal and a landscaped courtyard and a high emphasis was placed on quality public spaces and amenities to foster a sense of community.
