Associated Architects attended the opening alongside London South East Colleges and project partners, with Sir Ken Olisa OBE, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, officially opening the new campus. The event was also attended by representatives from the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Kier Group, L&Q, the Greater London Authority and the Department for Education, including Abena Oppong-Asare MP.

The £45m, 5,500 sq m campus replaces outdated facilities with a flexible, digitally enabled learning environment designed around the needs of students and the College’s curriculum. Delivered as part of the wider Future Greenwich masterplan, the five-storey building strengthens the College’s presence on Plumstead Road while contributing to the wider regeneration of the area.

Teaching spaces are arranged around a central atrium, with expressive stair cores providing clear connections between floors. At ground level, an open arrangement creates visual connections between activity spaces, while a central breakout area brings together the café, learning resource centre, student support services and communal study areas.

Sustainability has been central to the project, with the completed campus becoming one of the country’s only BREEAM Outstanding further education buildings. Air source heat pumps, an ambient loop heating and cooling system, a bio-solar roof and high-performance building fabric all contribute to reducing operational carbon and creating comfortable, healthy spaces for students and staff.

Delivered in collaboration with London South East Colleges, Kier Construction, Box Clever Consulting, Curtins and Stace, the campus represents a significant investment in further education and the future of the Greenwich community.
