University of Birmingham New Campus Library officially opened

Yesterday saw the official opening of the University of Birmingham’s New Main Campus Library. Dame Lynne Brindley, DBE, FRSA, FBA opened the library at the event attended by the design team, donors, university staff and alumni.

Warren Jukes, Associated Architects Director and the project’s lead said:

“The positive reaction and praise received tonight and since the library opened is overwhelming. This is a vindication of our ‘beyond design’ approach, centred around continuous client engagement, and the library services team in particular. The decision to replace the old library was clearly the right one.”

The library opened to staff and students in September 2016 with an exhibition commissioned to occupy the ground floor space. A couple of short films about the opening exhibition have been made and can be watched here:
