Bartholomew Barn Launch Event

Following the official opening of the Bartholomew Barn at King’s Hawford on the 14th May, St Gobain launched the project; being the first ever Multi-Comfort building in the UK yesterday. The Multi-Comfort building is a concept developed by St. Gobain which enhances the comfort of the building’s users.

The 450sq.m barn is a multi-purpose sports and drama hall, used for games, assemblies, drama, music and dance. The unique design will adhere to Passivhaus standards; which Multi-Comfort standards incorporate and exceed.

The event was attended by over 150 industry experts who listened to many of the team behind the project speak about the benefits, technologies and intricacies in the design and construction of a project with so many well-being technologies involved. Associated Architects’ Project Architect and Senior Associate, John Christophers spoke about the how the design was manifested and how the project was a “marriage made in heaven” with an enlightened client, manufacturer and contractor.

Other guest speakers included John Alker from the UK Green Building Council, Adrian Speller of Speller Metcalfe, Mark Allen and Mike Chaldecott from St Gobain, Galen Bartholomew; after whom the building is named, from the King’s School Worcester and Oliver Heath who hosted the event who spoke about the benefits and importance of biophilic design.
