Three RIBA Awards

Associated Architects has been awarded three Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Awards for “Southwater One”:http://www.www.associated-architects.co.uk/projects/community/telford-and-wrekin-community-hub/, a key building in the ongoing redevelopment of Telford’s civic heart. Southwater One has been instrumental in driving forward the masterplan for the site, RIBA Jury Judge Phillip Howl described it as a _‘…catalyst for regeneration.’_

The project, which was completed last year, combines a new public library, the Council’s First Point contact centre, tourist information and commercial space for restaurants and a café.

Telford and Wrekin were awarded Client of the Year and Rupert Walshe won Project Architect of the Year.

Kate Callis, Assistant Director of Development, Business and Employment for Telford and Wrekin said, _‘We were super pleased for Rupert – he has great vision and style and was also hugely fun to work with.’_

The awards, which were held on Thursday 30th April at Spotlight in Digbeth, recognise the best in the regional for high quality, transformative and sustainable architecture. All regional winners are put forward for the RIBA National Award, which is announced in June.
