Tour of 19 Cornwall Street with BAA and Don’t Waste Buildings

Last week, we were pleased to host the Birmingham Architectural Association and Don’t Waste Buildings for a guided tour of our newly completed retrofit project at 19 Cornwall Street, designed for Kier Property.

The 139,000 sq. ft building has been transformed from a dated 1990s office block into a future-facing, sustainable workplace that champions environmental performance and user wellbeing.

We were pleased to see such strong interest in the project, which provided an opportunity to share insight into its delivery and the impact of a performance-led retrofit strategy.

Director Steve Townsend led the tour, offering an in-depth overview of the design process and the project’s key environmental credentials, including:

  • NABERS UK Design for Performance Target: 5.5 stars

  • BREEAM Excellent

  • WELL Enabled

  • WiredScore Platinum

The event also featured a talk by Sarah Worth, West Midlands Chapter Lead for Don’t Waste Buildings, who outlined the group’s mission to raise awareness of building reuse and push for policy change that prioritises retention and adaptation over demolition.

From a revitalised atrium to low-carbon, locally sourced materials, the project showcases how thoughtful retrofit can drive real change in commercial development.
