Waters Precision Engineering Facility at Longbridge Completes

We are pleased to have completed the high-tech manufacturing facility for high-precision laboratory equipment at Longbridge using passive design standards.

This new facility will enable Waters to expand and provide updated first-class facilities for production of their high precision machinery. Waters Corporation is a global leader in analytical instruments and software serving the life, materials, and food sciences for more than 60 years. The multinational company which is based in the U.S. has more than 7,800 employees worldwide with more than 1,000 of these employed across England and Ireland

Additionally, and importantly, it will increase space by 300% for the corporation providing 100 highly skilled jobs due to the expansion in Longbridge (the brownfield site is within the vacant 75-acre West Works plot)

The use of passive design strategies has been integrated as part of the design process to help reduce energy consumption. This is in part achieved by incorporating good U-Values which will lead to the installation of high efficiency building services and, later, photovoltaic roof panels.

The main entrance is positioned centrally to be visible and legible on the approach from the spine road. It features perforated 3D metal panels that are offset from the black flat panels behind it to ensure it creates a clear sense of arrival. The main southwest elevation also contains ground floor glazing, giving a view into the building.

Located on land just off Bristol Road South, the Water’s Corporation building further expands the Longbridge Business Park, which has already provided a boost to the local economy and created a significant number of jobs for local residents.
