Edward Boyle Library awards shortlists

Our refurbishment of the Grade II listed Chamberlin, Powell and Bon modernist concrete Edward Boyle Library at the University of Leeds has been shortlisted for three awards at the 2017 Constructing Excellence Awards:

  • ‘Project of the Year’,
  • ‘Integration and Collaborative Working’,
  • ‘Preservation and Rejuvenation’.

The sensitive refurbishment sees the focus on postgraduate student requirements by introducing a research suite, consolidation of book collections to increase reader spaces, a new public cafe and the opening up of the ground and first floors to flood the building with light. We’ve made significant improvements to the the library’s energy requirements through installing secondary glazing and internally applied insulation. Feedback from the university and the students has been extremely positive and we are very proud of the project.

We’re delighted with the shortlisting announcement and look forward to the awards ceremony on the 7th July in Leeds.
