A major new three-story Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school has been completed in Tiffield, Northamptonshire, providing 250 much-needed school places for children aged 4 to 18.
Commissioned by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) and operated by Greenwood Academies Trust, the project has delivered a state-of-the-art facility following the demolition of outdated existing buildings on the site.
The scheme includes new access arrangements, parking, landscaping, and renewable energy installations to support a low-carbon future. The design carefully integrates the school with its parkland setting, adjacent to Gateway School college, while providing safe and inclusive play and sports spaces.
Key design objectives were focused on:
- Creating an inclusive and inspiring learning environment for children with autism (ASC), speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), and severe learning difficulties (SLD).
- Delivering a high-quality, sustainable building that responds to its natural surroundings.
- Designing safe, secure outdoor areas that promote wellbeing and minimise opportunities for anti-social behaviour.
The school responds to a growing demand for SEND provision in West Northamptonshire, allowing more children to access specialist education closer to home.

With doors now open to pupils, Tiffield Academy is set to become a centre of excellence for inclusive education in the region.
