Jon Chadwick at UK Construction Week

At this year’s UK Construction Week, Senior Associate Jon Chadwick will be exploring how the design and construction of Passivhaus buildings differs from standard building construction based upon first principles. His session, at the NEC event, will also touch upon how the scale of building and method of construction can influence the design and will draw upon personal experience from completed, certified Passivhaus projects. These projects include the University of Leicester’s Centre for Medicine, known as the George Davis Centre. This £42 million 12,000 square metre building is the UK’s largest non-domestic Passivhaus building and winner of a Passivhaus Trust Award; with a 93% reduction in energy bills it is a building of exemplar environmental performance.

The second project is a much more personal one, that of Jon’s own family home. Completed in December 2017, ‘Chadwick Haus’ is a self-built, detached house in rural Shropshire that was designed for Jon’s own family and which has proved to be a comfortable, efficient and flexible family home.  The house is a certified Passivhaus and is constructed from highly insulated, timber-framed panels that were prefabricated off-site and craned into place.

Jon will be in CPD Hub 2 in Hall 11 on the 10th October 11:30am–12:30pm you can book your seat here
