Birmingham New Street Half Time Switch Over

Today many Midlands businesses and commuters were met with the half time switch over at Birmingham New Street. The current work is aiming to reinvent the tired ‘Gateway to the West Midlands.’

Associated Architects’ director James Hall said of the switch over:

_‘The half-time switch over marks a major milestone in fundamentally changing the way visitors, and the city’s citizens, perceive Birmingham. We’re keen to see the long-term economic benefits, that the redevelopment of New Street Station and Grand Central will offer, filter into the city. The development has brought about a ‘call to arms’ among existing retailers to reenergise and maintain Birmingham as a leading retail destination, with many stores already planning refurbishment works in readiness for the station’s launch. In short, the station will become a catalyst for change within the city core, enhancing its services and promoting a bright, new image of the West Midlands.’_
