Work has commenced on the “SPACE Building”:http://www.www.associated-architects.co.uk/projects/education/independent/space/ project for the King’s School Worcester, Associated Architects’ ninth consecutive project for the school.
The development, provisionally known as the SPACE building (short for Sports and Performing Arts Centre), comprises a four court multi-use sports hall and fitness facilities for School and community use, as well as dance and drama studios, teaching spaces and a VI form centre. The new facilities aim to make the school one of the leading academic institutions in the West Midlands.
The site sits on the edge of the historic school campus close to Worcester city centre, on the former defensive line of Worcester Castle. This historic site is thought to date back to the Bronze Age, c. 1000BC.
