Planning submitted for canalside scheme

We have submitted a planning application, on behalf of Consortia Developments Ltd. for the redevelopment and extension of the Lockside House building on Scotland Street, in Birmingham.

Consent has previously been secured to convert the existing building, which was originally constructed as late Victorian workshop building, from office to residential use under permitted development rights. The latest application seeks further permission to redevelop the adjacent car park site and extend the existing building to create a total of 65 high-quality new apartments.

The proposed design takes advantage of the attractive canalside setting, overlooking the Farmer’s Bridge lock flight and canal wharf. The design is contemporary in style but responds to the traditional industrial of the original building.

Work is expected to commence later this year.
