UK’s Largest Passivhaus Building

Associated Architects’ project at the University of Leicester, The “Centre for Medicine” officially became Passivhaus accredited yesterday.

The 13,000sq.m building is now currently the largest certified Passivhaus building on the UK and is the new home to the Medical Education, Health Sciences and Psychology departments for the University accommodating 2,350 staff and students. The building was designed to Level 2 BIM standards.

Warren Jukes, Director said “We’re hugely proud of the project. It was an ambitious design in terms of sustainability from the outset but we were confident from the start that the building would achieve it’s target of Passivhaus certification. We’re honoured to be involved in a project that actively demonstrates that these standards are achievable on such a large scale in the UK. Well done to the University, Willmott Dixon and all involved in the project.”
