New Library Progress

Work is progressing well on the site of the “New Library”:http://www.www.associated-architects.co.uk/projects/education/universities/main-campus-library/ for the University of Birmingham, with a completion date set for later this year. Daily pictures of the construction have been fed back to the practice by project architect and photographer Tim Cornbill.

The construction will help to re-integrate a green heart to the campus, improving the site circulation and setting of surrounding historic buildings. With a combined floor space of 16,000 sq.m, spread over six levels, the building will become a beacon for the Russell group University, offering new exhibition space, a café and event areas, on top of the all the usual functions that a library provides.
