Refurbishment of Walsall’s Saddlers Centre Underway with Bradford Mall Works in Full Swing

Exciting progress is being made on the refurbishment of Walsall’s Saddlers Centre, with works at Bradford Mall now well underway. Designed as part of the wider, ambitious Connected Gateway Project, the redevelopment aims to breathe new life into this key retail space, enhancing the overall user experience and ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the community.

The Saddlers Centre, originally opened in 1980, it was last refurbished in 1989 and is now undergoing a significant transformation that will modernise and repurpose the existing retail spaces. The refit includes the installation of new flooring throughout the mall, alongside the introduction of a striking timber-clad ceiling that will bring warmth and a contemporary aesthetic to the space.

Current Progress

Recent work at Bradford Mall has seen several key milestones achieved:

New Tiled Flooring Installation: Work has commenced on laying a new tiled floor, starting from the main entrance and progressing further into the mall. This upgrade will provide a refreshed and durable surface, improving both aesthetics and functionality for visitors.

Ceiling Works: The existing ceiling has been stripped back, and remedial works are being carried out in preparation for the installation of a new Hunter Douglas timber-baffled ceiling. Once complete, this feature will introduce a modern and visually appealing element to the space.

New Staircase Base: The base for a new staircase providing improved access to the upper mall has now been laid. This addition will enhance connectivity and accessibility within the centre.

Retail Unit Preparations: Several empty retail units have been stripped out in readiness for the installation of new shop fronts and interior fit-outs, paving the way for a fresh mix of tenants and businesses to revitalise the mall.

Once complete, the refurbishment will not only provide a more welcoming environment for shoppers but also create a vibrant retail destination that aligns with Walsall’s broader regeneration efforts. The Connected Gateway Project is set to play a pivotal role in transforming the town centre, fostering economic growth, and attracting new visitors to the area.

Stay tuned for further updates as the project progresses toward its completion.
