Malcolm Booth Drawing Prize – Winners

An architecture student from Birmingham City University MArch course was selected as the winner of the inagural Malcolm Booth Drawing Prize. The prize has been set up by Associated Architects with the Birmingham School of Architecture in memory of Malcolm Booth, one of the founding partners of the practice and former student and tutor at the school.

Bilal Rashid took home the winning prize for his drawings of self-sufficient shelters in the Iraqi dessert, comprising recycled F-16 fighter parts.

Commendations were awarded to Andreea Buzuloi (MARH) for her comprehensive housing axonometric drawing and Aun Naeem (BAARCH) for his hand drawn Piranesi-esq concept for a car disassembly plant.

Warren Jukes, Managing Director of Associated Architects said: ‘Through the Malcolm Booth Drawing prize we are proud to have the ability to reward the next generation of designers from the Birmingham school. The School where Malcolm studied and taught before founding Associated Architects’. ‘We were impressed with the quality of work on show this year and in particular by our overall winner Bilal Rashid (MARCH).
