Richard joined the practice in 2006 was promoted to Director in 2013.
His project portfolio of schemes includes delivery of a wide range of residential, arts, education, and workplace new-builds, refurbishments and masterplans and this broad knowledge helps to inform his approach. By looking at both the macro and micro scale in tandem, he ensures that individual sites within the overall strategic design provide viable, developable plots. His understanding of both public and private sectors ensures that robust, flexible strategic solutions are developed. Richard also leads the practice’s schools projects and participation on education frameworks
In recent years, his major projects include a triple Regional RIBA Award winning and National RIBA Reinvention Award shortlisted education building in Wolverhampton. Amongst his current project is the only net-zero carbon, mixed-use, residential-led scheme in Birmingham. Richard also has expertise of working within the context of existing buildings designing a scheme of alterations to a Grade I listed station building. With a former practice he designed contemporary, contextual award-winning additions to two scheduled ancient monuments.
As Director in charge of Health and Safety and Quality Assurance, he is responsible for ensuring effective leadership and implementation of these areas within the practice.
