Speller Metcalfe will begin construction of our brand new Cyber Quarter – Centre for Cyber Security in Hereford in June. The scheme’s aim is to tackle the growing threat of cyber security and the shared facilities will allow up to 16 private sector businesses to make use of the centre’s specialist training rooms and laboratory spaces.

The Centre for Cyber Security is a joint venture between the University of Wolverhampton and Herefordshire County Council, with Skylon Park in the Hereford Enterprise Zone chosen as the site for the facility. The venture is part funded through the European Regional Development Fund in conjunction with the Marches LEP Local Growth Fund.

It will provide specific laboratory equipment, testing facilities, innovation workspace and collaborative R&D units enabling the private sector businesses within it to utilise the University of Wolverhampton’s expertise, extended networks and capacity to stimulate new applications and other products. This will enable the university to stimulate growth in the area courtesy of innovation and improved productivity in SMEs. Their aim is to become a leader in the field of cyber security related areas, through advanced research and engagement with business operating in the field of cyber innovation.

At a little over 2,100sq.m, the three-storey facility features a triple height central atrium that acts as a welcoming space that can be used for breakout, waiting and socialising, while providing a legible space for ease of navigation to each floor.
