Parkside Building Completion

Associated Architects has completed the handover of Phase One of the new City Centre Campus for Birmingham City University. The £42m Parkside Building, which is connected to Millennium Point, is a leading feature of the ambitious Eastside redevelopment programme.

Parkside has been designed to house world-class provisions from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) and School of Media faculties, allowing collaboration between the disciplines.

Professor Chris O’Neil, Executive Dean for the BIAD said: _“We’re so excited about the opening of this building, we’ve spent a long time developing what we know will be the coolest school of art and design anywhere in the world.”_

An innovative use of BIM (Building Information Modelling), has made the building one of the first of its kind to utilise the Autodesk 360 Field software.

James Hall, Director for Associated Architects said, _‘The Parkside Building is a new chapter for Birmingham City University and Eastside, and it’s fantastic that we’re a part of that. The building is going to provide the staff and students with the best possible resources and learning spaces. The design places the student experience at the heart, promoting collaboration and crossovers between disciplines.’_
