Ground Works Complete at BIAD

Birmingham City University’s new building for the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design is rising rapidly from the ground at Eastside following the successful early stages of construction, completed ahead of programme by contractor Willmott Dixon. The building is to be linked by a bridge to Millennium Point and will provide shared media studios and workshops as phase one of the University’s City Centre Campus, with completion set for September 2013.

Associated Architects is currently developing the design for phase two, to provide a Student Hub containing library, catering and Students’ Union, together with academic accommodation for the faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences and for Birmingham City Business School. The second phase is planned for completion in September 2014.
