Edward Boyle Library shortlisted for an AJ Retrofit Award

The awards shortlistings for us are coming in thick and fast of late. We’re very pleased to share the news with you that our careful refurbishment of the Edward Boyle Library for the University of Leeds has been shortlisted for an AJ Retrofit award this year.

The library is a Grade II listed modernist building that forms part of a wider group of buildings modelled by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon in the 1960s and 70s.

Our comprehensive refurbishment upgrades the building’s performance achieving a BREEAM Excellent rating as well as implementing a dedicated postgraduate research suite, an additional 200 reader spaces and a public cafe.

To assist in securing planning permission for the library refurbishment works we liaised directly with the sole remaining partner of Chamberlin, Powell and Bon and compiled a comprehensive Statement of Heritage Significance.

The awards be announced at the ceremony held at The Brewery, London, on the 13th September 2017.
