Associated Architects 2022 Social Value Report

Associated Architects are pleased to share their first Social Value annual report, detailing the initiatives the Practice have undertaken in 2022 towards achieving the objectives set out in our CSR / Social Impact Policy.

Highlights include raising/donating close to £5,500, donating over £3,000 worth of goods, and undertaking over 300 volunteer hours. The Practice maintained a range of certifications demonstrating responsible business practices, including being a Planet Mark certified, carbon neutral organisation in line with our focus on sustainability. Furthermore, a range of events with schools and universities enabled us to meaningfully engage with over 250 young people in 2022.

Led by the CREAATE Working Group (Community, Responsibility, Engagement, Architecture, Ambition, Teaching, Environment), this has involved a wide range of activities under the themes of:

  • Nurturing the next generation of architectural talent.
  • Supporting the promotion of excellence in the built environment.
  • Community projects and volunteering.
  • Charitable giving.
  • Providing architectural services Pro Bono.
  • Reducing our carbon impact.
  • Maintaining responsible business practices.

Beth Astington, the Practice’s Bid Manager and Social Impact Lead, said:

“2022 was a strong year for Social Impact at Associated Architects. On a personal level, taking part in the sessions for young people and activities like the landscaping at Solo Living have not only been enjoyable but also incredibly rewarding. Hearing first-hand the impact that our work has had really brings home the value of what we do. Thank you to everyone who had been involved, both from Associated Architects and our clients and collaborators that have supported us this year.”

Steve Townsend, Director in charge of CREAATE, said:

“I am incredibly proud of what our team and the Practice has achieved this year. This is not just for the activities we have undertaken and causes we have supported, but for the framework we have put in place to ensure we’re focussing our efforts on where we can make a real difference in line with our ethos.”
