Topping out at the School of Architecture

The official topping out ceremony of the University of Wolverhampton’s School of Architecture and the Built Environment (SOABE) has taken place. The design team were joined by the Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton, representatives from the university, local business partners and former employees of the Springfield Brewery.

SOABE forms the largest part of the first phase of the £100 million redevelopment of the site of the former brewery to create the Springfield Campus. The site has been transformed into Europe’s largest specialist construction and built environment campus, bringing together businesses and the education sector to maximise impact on the economy. It will also act as a catalyst for economic and social regeneration, tailored to creating jobs and delivering the technical and professional experts required by the industry.

The University of Wolverhampton’s aspirations for the site are that it will become an unrivalled built environment hub and centre of excellence, among the biggest and best in Europe.
