Bolton College of Medical Sciences

Bolton College of Medical Sciences unanimously approved by planning

Our designs for the £30 million state-of-the-art Bolton College of Medical Sciences (BCMS) have been approved. BCMS is a joint venture between the University of Bolton, Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton Council, and Bolton College.

The college is set to be the first of its kind in the UK and will sit in the grounds of the Royal Bolton Hospital. It is hoped it will transform how NHS workforces are trained, alleviate staffing pressures, and result in an improved level of care.

A mix of teaching and learning space will be contained in a four and five-storey building, with a nearby three-storey, 406-space car park and a cafe. Teaching will focus heavily on practical learning, and utilising the latest medical technology, such as simulation suites and surgical and acute care environments.

Once open, it is hoped the college will give people a direct route into health and social care employment, and provide unrivalled training opportunities for existing hospital staff to upskill and further their careers.

You can see a short ITV News clip on the college (before planning was granted) here:
