Phased delivery on a live school site
Following a review of current and future educational needs, Hill West Primary School in north Sutton Coldfield was identified for redevelopment as a new Department for Education school. A competitive DfE procurement process led to Tilbury Douglas Construction, working with Associated Architects, being appointed to deliver a purpose-built primary school and associated site works. The project, under the DfE CF21 Framework, will provide a modern learning environment for approximately 470 pupils, from nursery through to Year 6, within a single, cohesive building.
The new two-storey school has been designed as a one-building solution, improving circulation, accessibility and day-to-day operation for pupils and staff. Sustainability and technology are central to the design approach, supporting contemporary teaching methods while reducing environmental impact. The project aims to create a school that fosters pride, respect and a strong sense of ownership, leaving a lasting legacy for the community and supporting Hill West in becoming the first-choice primary school in the area.
